Capital S.M.A.R.T has won national recognition for its leadership in innovation, taking out the 2013 National Business Award for Innovation in its industry. Chief Executive, Norman Moss said that innovation was part of Capital S.M.A.R.T’s DNA, with the inspiration coming from founder Jim Vais who focused on developing a new approach to the collision repair process. “Jim changed traditional thinking about how repairs should be carried out and introduced technologies and products which had never been used in the industry before along with designing specialised equipment to deliver world class repairs,” Mr Moss said. The structural innovation developed by Jim allowed the Capital S.M.A.R.T team to scale the business model quickly and roll out the national network in less than three years. A continuing focus on innovation led Capital S.M.A.R.T to build the digital capability to track repairs with its Key 2 Key system. Mr Moss said investing in innovation was a key to delivering superior customer service which would allow Capital S.M.A.R.T to maintain its leadership position in collision repairs in Australia. ”The culture at Capital S.M.A.R.T celebrates innovation and continuous improvement and the National Business Award reflected the efforts made by all team members,” Mr Moss said. The Australian Business Award for Innovation recognises organisations that have made differences to their industry through differentiated or more effective products, processes, services, technologies or ideas resulting in a commercial, environmental and/or social benefit.
