Capital S.M.A.R.T has donated a number of hand crafted Billy carts to Variety, the Children’s Charity. The Billy carts were constructed as part of a Team Event at S.M.A.R.T’s fourth annual leadership conference held in Brisbane. Nine teams were given the challenge of collecting parts and building Billy carts, which were decorated with the help of paint manufacturer PPG, who set up a pop up shop to supply paints and decals (custom cut decorations). Three carts, which had been finished before the conference, were presented to three children selected by Variety. Capital S.M.A.R.T. Chief Executive, Norman Moss, said it was an emotional moment for the leadership teams when the carts were handed over to the children. “Our team members were very moved when they realised that their work was going to benefit children in need,” Mr Moss said. One Conference delegate commented “I felt special and proud to see what a difference we (S.M.A.R.T) are making as a Company to the local community”. The nine Billy carts that were built and raced on the day will go back to the S.M.A.R.T Repair Centres in Queensland for final respraying and checking, and will then be donated to other children next month through Variety. Variety is a national not-for-profit organisation committed to empowering Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh and learn. By giving practical equipment, programs and experiences, Variety helps children in need to overcome whatever obstacles they face and live life to the fullest.
