CAPITAL S.M.A.R.T INVESTS IN ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY PAINT

Water_GreenCapital S.M.A.R.T has stepped up its investment in and commitment to environmentally friendly materials and practices in all its Australian centres. The business has introduced new environmentally friendly water borne paint products to its Australian centres, partnering with global paint suppliers PPG and BASF. Combined with Infrared Gas technology, this dramatically reduces the level of Volatile Oil Compounds (VOCs) produced within Capital S.M.A.R.T paint shops. Legislation regulating the use of VOCs is already in place in Europe, North America and parts of Asia putting S.M.A.R.T at the forefront of the industry within the region. Chief Operating Officer Jim Vais said the business had already made significant investment in technology to reduce VOC levels. "For the last two years we have been using High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP) or Reduced Pressure (RP) Spray equipment, which reduces waste and emissions by transferring more product onto vehicles and less into the atmosphere," Mr Vais said. The recent conversion of its flagship centre at East Bentleigh completed an extensive conversion program across the network. Mr Vais said the business has now successfully transitioned all sites away from solvent based paint and all new sites will automatically implement water borne paint. All paint technicians have been trained to use the environment friendlier product.
